CVE-2025-40948 is a vulnerability in multiple versions of Siemens RUGGEDCOM ROX MX5000 series devices prior to version 2.17.1. The issue arises from improper validation of input in the web server's JSON-RPC interface, classified as CWE-88 (Improper Neutralization of Argument Delimiters in a Command). An authenticated remote attacker could exploit this flaw to read arbitrary files on the underlying operating system with root privileges. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 6.8, indicating medium severity. No official patch or remediation guidance has been provided yet by Siemens.
