An issue in MikroTik RouterOS v.7.14.2 and SwOS v.2.18 exposes the WebFig management interface over cleartext HTTP by default, allowing an on-path attacker to execute injected JavaScript in the administrator’s browser and intercept credentials.

CVE-2025-61481 is a critical security vulnerability identified in MikroTik RouterOS version 7.14.2 and SwOS version 2.18. The root cause is that the WebFig management interface, which is used for device administration, is exposed over cleartext HTTP by default rather than encrypted HTTPS. This exposure allows an attacker positioned on the network path between the administrator and the device (a man-in-the-middle or on-path attacker) to intercept all HTTP traffic, including sensitive credentials. Furthermore, the attacker can inject malicious JavaScript code into the WebFig interface viewed by the administrator, enabling execution of arbitrary scripts in the administrator's browser context. This can lead to credential theft, session hijacking, and potentially full control over the router or switch. The vulnerability does not require any authentication or user interaction, making it trivially exploitable by anyone with network access.
