CVE-2026-12051: memory-safety in zephyrproject zephyrCVE-2026-12051
0

CVE-2026-12051 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Zephyr project's experimental device_next USB device stack. It involves a NULL pointer dereference in the USB DFU class implementation's handle_download() function, triggered by a zero-length DFU_DNLOAD request. This causes a fatal CPU fault leading to device crash or reset, resulting in a denial of service. The vulnerability requires DFU download support to be enabled and is exploitable by an attacker controlling the USB host. There is no memory corruption or information disclosure. A fix involves adding a NULL check before accessing the buffer pointer.
