This issue arises from a forged cifs.spnego key description in the cifs.upcall component. The vulnerability allows a local attacker to escalate privileges. Red Hat has released an important security update addressing this issue along with bug fixes and enhancements related to kerberos mounts. The update is available for multiple architectures and variants of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. Users are advised to apply the update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory.
