A vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript engine used by Node.js causes integer-like strings to hash to their numeric value, making hash collisions predictable. This can be exploited by an attacker to degrade Node.js process performance by triggering many collisions, commonly via JSON.parse() on attacker-controlled input. The flaw affects multiple Node.js versions including 20.x, 22.x, 24.x, and 25.x. A patch is available to address this issue. 0 A flaw in V8's string hashing mechanism causes integer-like strings to be hashed to their numeric value, making hash collisions trivially predictable. By crafting a request that causes many such collisions in V8's internal string table, an attacker can significantly degrade performance of the Node.js process. The most common trigger is any endpoint that calls `JSON.parse()` on attacker-controlled input, as JSON parsing automatically internalizes short strings into the affected hash table. This vulnerability affects **20.x, 22.x, 24.x, and 25.x**. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 03/30/2026, 19:07:28 UTC Added: 03/30/2026, 19:23:19 UTC |
0 Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in the Node.js 22 package distributed with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 Extended Update Support. These include a denial of service, uninitialized memory exposure, and file permissions bypass issues. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory (RHSA-2026:2899) addressing these vulnerabilities with updated packages. The vulnerabilities affect Node.js 22.22.0-1.el10_0 across multiple architectures including x86_64, s390x, ppc64le, and aarch64. No CVSS scores are provided in the advisory. The update is available and should be applied to remediate these issues. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 02/18/2026, 08:42:09 UTC Added: 06/09/2026, 10:23:15 UTC |
A flaw in Node.js’s Permissions model allows attackers to bypass `--allow-fs-read` and `--allow-fs-write` restrictions using crafted relative symlink paths. By chaining directories and symlinks, a script granted access only to the current directory can escape the allowed path and read sensitive files. This breaks the expected isolation guarantees and enables arbitrary file read/write, leading to potential system compromise. This vulnerability affects users of the permission model on Node.js v20, v22, v24, and v25. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 01/26/2026, 14:47:49 UTC Added: 06/09/2026, 10:23:27 UTC |
