0 NATS Server versions prior to 2.14.3 and 2.12.12 contain a vulnerability where an authenticated MQTT client can bypass subscribe access controls by subscribing to the internal $MQTT.deliver.pubrel subject prefix. This exposes MQTT QoS2 protocol metadata for sessions within the account. The issue is addressed in versions 2.14.3 and 2.12.12. 0 NATS Server versions prior to 2.14.3 and 2.12.12 contain a vulnerability where MQTT retained message delivery and QoS1+ durable replay can bypass subscribe deny filters. This occurs because these delivery paths do not consistently recheck the original topic against deny rules before sending messages to subscribers. The issue allows delivery of messages that should have been blocked by subscription deny rules. A fix is available in versions 2.14.3 and 2.12.12. NATS Server is a high-performance server for NATS.io, the cloud and edge native messaging system. Prior to 2.14.3 and 2.12.12, an authenticated MQTT client could subscribe to the internal $MQTT.deliver.pubrel subject family, bypassing configured subscribe permissions and exposing MQTT QoS2 protocol metadata for sessions in the account.
