CVE-2026-63622 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in libvirt on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. A process running as the confined swtpm user can exploit a symlink-following flaw in the virFileChownFiles() function to cause the root-level libvirt daemon to change ownership of arbitrary files to the swtpm user. This allows escalation from the swtpm sandbox to root-level file ownership control. The vulnerability affects the handling of symbolic links within the swtpm state directory. Mitigation is possible by removing the <tpm> device definition from the domain XML configuration if vTPM functionality is not required, preventing the vulnerable code path from being reached. Domains requiring vTPM must prioritize applying an upstream fix. No explicit patch version is stated in the advisory.
