0 A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the GIMP file-png plugin when processing specially crafted Animated Portable Network Graphics (APNG) images containing an oversized tRNS chunk. Exploitation can cause the plugin to crash, resulting in a denial of service (DoS). The main GIMP application remains unaffected as plugins run in separate processes. No patch or official fix status is currently confirmed by Red Hat. Mitigation involves avoiding opening or processing untrusted APNG files with GIMP.
