A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in NLnet Labs Unbound DNSSEC validator up to and including version 1.26.0. This flaw occurs when processing DNSKEY records with an owner compression pointer to its own RDATA, which can overflow the digest buffer. Exploitation can lead to denial of service or potentially remote code execution by an attacker controlling a malicious DNS zone and querying the vulnerable Unbound instance.
