0 CVE-2026-86862 is a vulnerability in pgAdmin 4's Restore and Maintenance tools that improperly handle the 'database' argument passed to pg_restore and psql utilities. This allows an authenticated user with certain permissions to redirect database connection attempts to an attacker-controlled server by injecting connection parameters into the database name. The vulnerability exposes the decrypted database password via the PGPASSWORD environment variable to the attacker-controlled endpoint. It affects pgAdmin 4 versions from initial introduction of the --dbname argument up to but not including 9.18. The issue is mitigated by a fix that uses the PGDATABASE environment variable to prevent connection string expansion.
