0 CVE-2026-96442 is a high-severity code execution vulnerability in Emacs affecting versions prior to 31.2. The flaw exists in the Flymake mode when using language backends other than Lisp, which may execute arbitrary code from the edited file during syntax checking. This allows an attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the user running Emacs by viewing or editing untrusted files.
