A new campaign has been identified utilizing a valid digital signature from a Chinese technology company that remains unrevoked. The attack chain employs a dropper that retrieves an extension-based module list from command and control infrastructure. The malicious payloads exploit DLL Side-Loading techniques through a legitimate Tencent-signed executable to achieve code execution. The infrastructure includes Google Cloud Storage and a dedicated domain for command and control operations. Multiple components have been identified including an EXE dropper, DLL loader, DAT payload, and the legitimate Tencent executable used for side-loading purposes. Between July 2025 and present, threat actors suspected to be OceanLotus distributed malicious wheel packages through PyPI targeting both Windows and Linux platforms. Three fake libraries (uuid32-utils, colorinal, and termncolor) were created to imitate legitimate packages, implementing a sophisticated supply chain attack. The packages deployed droppers that delivered ZiChatBot, a previously unknown malware family using Zulip's REST APIs as command and control infrastructure instead of traditional C2 servers. The malware supports executing shellcode commands and establishes persistence through registry keys on Windows or crontab on Linux. Attribution to OceanLotus is based on 64% similarity with known droppers analyzed by KTAE system. The malicious packages were swiftly removed from PyPI following discovery. A sophisticated ClickFix campaign was detected in mid-March 2026, beginning with a malicious webpage impersonating Booking.com's visual identity with a fake CAPTCHA. The attack leverages social engineering to trick victims into executing a PowerShell command that downloads and runs a script directly in memory. The JavaScript code automatically copies malicious commands to the clipboard and intercepts copy events.
