CVE-2024-50199 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory management subsystem related to handling HugeTLB pages during swapoff operations. The flaw causes a bad pud (Page Upper Directory) error and results in the loss of a 1GB HugeTLB page because these pages are not properly freed from the page table. This issue arises when unuse_vma attempts to free memory but does not correctly skip HugeTLB pages, leading to resource leakage and potential denial of service due to memory exhaustion.
