On Linux systems, several OpenZFS ioctl authorization checks incorrectly treat capabilities held within unprivileged user namespaces as equivalent to real host privileges. This flaw allows unprivileged local users who can open /dev/zfs and create unprivileged user namespaces to perform privileged pool-administrative operations, access pool event logs, and inject faults without requiring root access or prior access to the target pool or devices.
