CVE-2024-42232 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's libceph component. It arises from a race condition between delayed work handling and the ceph_monc_stop() function, which can lead to improper cancellation of delayed work and potential reuse of freed memory. The flaw affects the management of monc structures, particularly monc->auth and monc->monmap. The issue was introduced by a previous commit and fixed by clearing certain state variables and properly synchronizing delayed work cancellation.
