A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's accel/rocket driver involves improper handling of the rdev pointer on device initialization failure. The rocket_probe() function sets the rdev pointer before checking for errors from rocket_device_init(). If initialization fails, rdev remains an error pointer, which can later be dereferenced, causing a fault.
