The function kho_fill_kimage() improperly populates KHO metadata for crash kernel images, which can cause the crash kernel to fault during initialization due to invalid memory accesses. This occurs because the crash kernel runs in a small reserved memory region, but KHO scratch areas may lie outside this region. The issue was fixed by adding a guard in kho_fill_kimage() to skip KHO population for crash kernel images, preventing faults during crash kernel startup on affected architectures such as arm64 and x86.
