CVE-2024-38588 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ftrace subsystem. The flaw occurs when ftrace_location() accesses ftrace pages that may be concurrently freed during module deletion, leading to potential memory corruption. The issue is fixed by holding an RCU lock when accessing ftrace pages and synchronizing RCU before freeing them.
