CVE-2024-50098 addresses a deadlock issue in the Linux kernel's UFS SCSI core during system reboot early in the boot process. The problem arises because SDEV_QUIESCE is set on all logical units (LUs) during UFS shutdown, causing the audio driver to deadlock while waiting on a mutex held by blk_mq_submit_bio(). The fix involves setting SDEV_OFFLINE on all LUs except the well-known logical unit (WLUN) to ensure I/O requests after shutdown return errors, preventing deadlocks.
