CVE-2024-41050 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's cachefiles subsystem involving cyclic allocation of msg_id to prevent reuse. Reusing msg_id too quickly after a maliciously completed reopen request can cause read requests to hang, resulting in a hung task. This occurs because the expected failure of a copen operation is bypassed due to msg_id reuse, leaving file descriptors open and preventing proper object closure. The issue is addressed by allocating msg_id cyclically to avoid rapid reuse.
