A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component related to path resolution in ksmbd_vfs_kern_path_create has been resolved. The issue involved improper handling of path components during SMB2 open lookups and create operations, allowing path traversal outside the intended share export. This could occur when an authenticated client races a missing path component, causing the create operation to resolve '..' components outside the share. The fix roots the create walk at the share to prevent escaping the export.
