CVE-2024-44974 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's multipath TCP (mptcp) path manager. It occurs when endpoint entries are selected inside an RCU protected section but referenced after the RCU unlock, potentially leading to unsafe memory access. The flaw was addressed by copying necessary information within the RCU section to prevent dereferencing freed memory.
