CVE-2026-58216 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Samba's Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) password change (kpasswd) service on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. The flaw occurs when processing malformed ASN.1-encoded Kerberos password change requests, causing the server to read up to six bytes beyond the allocated buffer. This can lead to the KDC process crashing if the read hits unmapped memory, resulting in a denial of service. Exploitation requires an authenticated attacker and is considered complex and unreliable in practice. Mitigations include disabling the kpasswd service or rate-limiting access until a patch is available.
