CVE-2024-50056 addresses a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB gadget UVC driver where improper handling of error pointers (ERR_PTR) could lead to a null pointer dereference or similar fault. The issue occurs in functions find_format_by_pix(), uvc_v4l2_enum_format(), and uvc_v4l2_try_format() within the uvc_v4l2.c source file. This flaw has been fixed by correcting the dereferencing of ERR_PTR values to prevent potential kernel crashes.
