The npm package bella-lutis57-breki was identified as containing malicious code linked to the tea.xyz token reward campaign. This campaign flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The malicious code includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names. These scripts modify package.json files to remove private flags, change version numbers, and create Indonesian-themed package names, continuously republishing variants to pollute the npm registry.
