The npm package erwin-toge64-sukiwir was identified as containing malicious code as part of a large-scale spam campaign linked to the tea.xyz token reward system. This campaign flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The malicious code includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names, aiming to inflate developer reputation scores. The payload modifies package metadata to remove private flags, alters version numbers, and continuously republishes variants, thereby polluting the npm ecosystem.
