The npm package fauzi-ketoprak69-riris contains malicious code linked to a large-scale token reward campaign called tea.xyz. This campaign flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The malicious code includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. These packages manipulate package metadata to remove private flags and alter version numbers, enabling continuous republishing to inflate developer reputation scores and exploit the tea protocol token rewards system.
