The npm package tania-nasipecel70-sluey is part of a large-scale malicious campaign flooding the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. These packages contain autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. The malicious code modifies package.json files to remove private flags, alter version numbers, and continuously republish variants. This activity aims to inflate developer reputation scores for the tea.xyz token reward campaign and pollutes the npm ecosystem.
