The npm package tuti-takokak4-sukiwir contains malicious code linked to a large-scale token reward campaign that flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The package includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names, aiming to inflate developer reputation scores for the tea protocol token rewards. The malicious payload modifies package.json files to remove private flags, changes version numbers, generates random Indonesian-themed package names, and continuously republishes variants to pollute the npm registry.
