The npm package umi-getuk88-riris is identified as containing malicious code linked to the tea.xyz token reward campaign. This campaign flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The malicious code includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names to manipulate developer reputation scores for token rewards. The payload modifies package.json files by removing private flags, altering version numbers, and generating random Indonesian-themed package names, resulting in continuous republishing of variants that pollute the npm registry.
