The npm package umi-wajit28-ruro contains malicious code associated with the tea.xyz token reward campaign that flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The package includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names. These scripts modify package.json files to remove private flags, alter version numbers, and create Indonesian-themed package names. The continuous republishing of variants aims to pollute the npm registry and inflate developer reputation scores for the tea protocol token rewards.
