The npm package andi-keripik74-sluey was identified as containing malicious code as part of a large-scale token reward campaign flooding npm with spam packages. These packages use autopublish scripts to generate and publish numerous derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. The malicious code modifies package.json files to remove private flags, alter version numbers, and continuously republish variants, aiming to inflate developer reputation scores for the tea.xyz token reward system and pollute the npm registry.
