The npm package andi-ongol-ongol89-sluey contains malicious code associated with the tea.xyz token reward campaign. This campaign flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The malicious code includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. The payload modifies package.json files to remove private flags, changes version numbers, and continuously republishes variants to inflate developer reputation scores for token rewards. This activity pollutes the npm registry with spam and potentially deceptive packages.
