The npm package arif-ongol-ongol10-riris contains malicious code linked to the tea.xyz token reward campaign, which flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. These packages use autopublish scripts to automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names, aiming to inflate developer reputation scores for token rewards. The malicious payload modifies package.json files to remove private flags, alters version numbers, and continuously republishes variants, thereby polluting the npm registry.
