The npm package bella-gado-gado37-sluey contains malicious code associated with the tea.xyz token reward campaign that flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. The malicious payload includes autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. These scripts modify package.json files to remove private flags and change version numbers, enabling continuous republishing of variants. This activity pollutes the npm registry and inflates developer reputation scores for the tea protocol token rewards.
