The npm package citra-kue87-sluey contains malicious code linked to the tea.xyz token reward campaign, which flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. This malware uses autopublish scripts to automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. The payload modifies package.json files by removing private flags and changing version numbers to enable continuous republishing. This activity aims to inflate developer reputation scores for tea protocol token rewards and pollutes the npm registry.
