The npm package dewanto-buburayam31-ruro contains malicious code as part of a large-scale spam campaign linked to the tea.xyz token reward system. This campaign flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024, each embedding autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. The malicious payload modifies package.json files by removing private flags, changing version numbers, and continuously republishing variants to pollute the npm registry and inflate developer reputation scores for token rewards.
