The npm package galih-kentang44-ruro contains malicious code linked to a large-scale token reward campaign that flooded the npm registry with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024. These packages include autopublish scripts that automatically generate and publish derivative packages with randomized Indonesian-themed names. The malicious payload modifies package.json files to remove private flags, alters version numbers, and continuously republishes variants to manipulate developer reputation scores for the tea.xyz token rewards.
