The npm package tania-ubi15-riris contains malicious code linked to the tea.xyz token reward campaign. This campaign flooded npm with over 15,000 spam packages in 2024 that use autopublish scripts to generate and publish derivative packages with randomized names. The malicious payload modifies package metadata to remove private flags, alters version numbers, and continuously republishes variants to inflate developer reputation scores and manipulate token rewards.
