MAL-2026-10214: Malicious code in babel-preset-lib-client (npm)
0

The npm package babel-preset-lib-client versions 4.9.9, 4.9.10, and 4.9.11 contains malicious code that exfiltrates sensitive environment data. Upon loading, it collects system information including OS platform, architecture, hostname, username, IP addresses, current working directory, environment variables (base64-encoded), and a directory tree listing. This data is then sent to a hardcoded Discord webhook controlled by the attacker. The package mimics a Babel preset but provides no legitimate Babel functionality. Any user installing and requiring this package risks leaking secrets such as NPM_TOKEN, AWS credentials, GitHub tokens, and other CI/developer secrets.
