MAL-2026-10549: Malicious code in abi-encode (npm)
0

The npm package 'abi-encode' versions 1.0.0, 1.0.1, and 1.0.2 contains malicious code that, upon requiring the package, schedules a delayed task to decode and drop a base64-encoded stealer script into a hidden directory in the user's home folder. This script establishes persistence via crontab on Linux or scheduled tasks on Windows, searches the home directory for sensitive wallet and credential files, encrypts them with RSA, and uploads them to attacker-controlled IPFS nodes using embedded API keys. The malicious behavior is disguised by a delay and fake cryptographic test data to evade detection. No patch or remediation information is provided.
