MAL-2026-10659: Malicious code in @sauruslord/libsignal (npm)
0

The npm package @sauruslord/libsignal version 2.0.2 impersonates the legitimate libsignal-node package but contains malicious code. Upon requiring the package, it waits one second, then overwrites a file in the installer's @whiskeysockets/baileys dependency with attacker-controlled code. This code abuses the installer's authenticated WhatsApp session to auto-follow an attacker-controlled newsletter channel without user consent. The package also terminates the host application shortly after import. The original overwritten file is destroyed with no backup restoration. Any system with this package installed should be considered fully compromised.
