Malicious code in @ai-support-agent/cli (npm)
0

The @ai-support-agent/cli npm package installs a persistent daemon that connects to a vendor API and executes remote commands on the host machine. It provides an interactive shell via WebSocket messages, allowing remote code execution, file operations, process control, and system reboot. This behavior is by design but effectively acts as a persistent backdoor. Anyone with access to the vendor API or who compromises it can fully control affected hosts. The daemon runs as a system service on Linux and macOS, starting on boot and communicating over the public internet by default.
