Malicious code in forge-extended (npm) 0 The npm package 'forge-extended' version 1.0.1 contains malicious code that executes during installation. Its preinstall script collects sensitive system information including hostname, username, home directory, DNS servers, and contents of /etc/passwd and /etc/hosts. This data is sent over HTTPS to an unauthorized external endpoint unrelated to the package's documented functionality. Installation of this package can lead to full system compromise, and all secrets and keys on the affected system should be considered exposed and rotated immediately.
