Malicious code in sextant-cli-linux-arm64 (npm)
0

The sextant-cli-linux-arm64 npm package contains a malicious native Go binary that acts as a remote-control backdoor. This binary includes a full WebRTC stack and connects to a hardcoded relay server controlled by the attacker. It is designed to exfiltrate sensitive AI-related credentials and configuration data from the host, including Anthropic API keys and Claude/Gemini CLI configurations. The package manifest is minimal and omits typical metadata fields, indicating an attempt to evade detection. This backdoor also collects public IP geolocation information to aid the attacker. Multiple release candidate versions of the package are affected.
