Malicious code in streak-calc-metrics (npm)
0

The npm package [email protected] contains malicious code that installs a Linux ELF binary named 'REDSHELL'. This binary establishes a remote shell to a hardcoded command and control server, enabling full remote control. It can download and execute arbitrary ELF binaries and shellcode without verification, harvest sensitive data such as SSH keys and credentials, and exfiltrate this data. Persistence is achieved via a systemd user service. The implant also provides a SOCKS5 proxy and TCP port forwarding, allowing attackers to pivot within internal networks. The package includes a deceptive integrity check that does not prevent execution.
