Malicious code in @shiftmarkets/shift-sdk-v4 (npm)
0

The npm package @shiftmarkets/shift-sdk-v4 version 1.0.77 contains malicious code that executes a postinstall script upon installation. This script collects extensive reconnaissance data from the installer environment, including hostname, usernames, environment variables (including those resembling credentials), network interfaces, and CI environment flags. The collected data is sent unencrypted over HTTP to a hardcoded IP address with no known affiliation, indicating a potential data exfiltration attempt. The package masquerades as a legitimate Shift Forex SDK and appears designed for dependency confusion attacks against internal registries.
