Malicious code in crypto-javas (npm) 0 The npm package crypto-javas versions 2.0.4, 2.0.7, and 2.0.8 contains malicious code that exfiltrates environment variables. It registers a postinstall hook and executes code on import that collects environment variables beyond a small OS-level allowlist, including CI/CD secrets and credentials, and sends them to a remote HTTPS backend. The package also reads local .env files to configure the exfiltration endpoint. This behavior violates the advertised purpose of the package as a secure environment variable handler for GitLab CI/CD.
