Malicious code in hyper-kube-config (npm) 0 The hyper-kube-config npm package version 1.1.1 contains malicious code that executes automatically during installation. This code collects sensitive system information including hostname, username, home directory, DNS configuration, current working directory, and contents of /etc/passwd and /etc/hosts. It then exfiltrates this data via HTTPS to an attacker-controlled domain without user consent or notification. This behavior is consistent with a dependency-confusion reconnaissance beacon aimed at gathering installer host identity and local system details.
