Malicious code in statist-browser-typed-client-social.shorts.editor (npm)
0

The npm package statist-browser-typed-client-social.shorts.editor version 20.7.1 contains malicious code that executes arbitrary binaries on the host system. Upon requiring or importing the package, it downloads a platform-specific binary from attacker-controlled infrastructure, writes it to a temporary directory with a disguised filename, sets executable permissions, and runs it as a detached background process. The package uses obfuscation techniques to evade static analysis and includes a secondary module with similar dropper capabilities. This results in arbitrary code execution on the installer's machine.
